Gemological Science International organizes yet another successful exclusive seminar ‘Man made diamond- Myths and the Facts’ to educate the audience on the rising concerns of diamond synthetics. GSI conducted a successful Seminar at DMCC on the imperative topic in the industry – Managing the Challenges of Man Made Diamonds- Myths, Facts, and Realities.
GSI receives an overwhelming response from the seminar. It focussed on the history, formation, myths, and the challenges associated with the Man made diamonds. In the recent years, the industry has developed new techniques like CVD and HPHT to grow diamonds in the labs in a short period of time. Though it is used for industrial purposes, the threat lies in the usage of ‘undisclosed’ lab grown diamonds that can be illegally mixed in jewelry sets and sold to customers. To maintain consumer trust and confidence, gemological labs like GSI takes credible measures and uses the best state of art technology and practices to make sure the right diamond reaches the right consumers. The final consumer of all diamond products must be rest assured that the items they purchase are accurately labeled and graded. The only way to achieve this through an industry-wide commitment to the proper classification of man made stones and impossible to evade safeguards that will catch any and all attempts at circumventing these procedures.
Seminar attendees were left with a superior understanding of all these underlying factors as well as got an early look at all of the new verification measures designed to provide accurate and swift classification in a low- cost manner. A brief demo of Testing was also given by our Chief- Gemologist Ms. Seema Athavale– GSI
