GSI Takes A Next Step Forward by Introducing Mobilab™ – An Integrated Approach to Innovation
Gemological Science International (GSI), a New York Head Quartered independent gemological laboratory that provides professional gemstone identification, grading and appraisal services to the fine jewelry industry introduces professional mobile lab equipment to India – Mobilab™ A breakthrough initiative and an integrated approach to innovation, this comprehensive laboratory was launched during IIJS, Signature Show on the 21st Feb’2014. The prominent figures of the industry honoured us by their presence and inaugurated the Mobilab™. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nitin Khandelwal, a Director of the All India Gem & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF); Dilip Lagu, Secretary of Maharashtra Saraf & Suvarnakar Mahamandal; Shantikaka Patel, President of the Gem & Jewellery Trade Council of India (GJTCI); and Ajit Pendurkar, President of the Dadar Saraf Association.
In response to the growing need to bring laboratory capabilities to the field, Mobilab™ is the first and only mobile lab in India which has pioneered the accessibility for on-site identifications and grading process.
The complexity of carrying all the gem-testing equipment made the mobile lab service handicapped; GSI’s Mobilab™ is the answer to this problem. With the introduction of Mobilab™ a jeweler is assured of the highest quality standard.
About the author
Debbie Azar is an experienced executive with extensive knowledge of the jewelry and gem lab industries. Her entrepreneurial skills and clarity of vision have helped GSI achieve rapid and continuous growth worldwide.
She began her industry career by starting her own successful costume jewelry business. She then expanded her knowledge of the industry with sales, marketing and business development roles at several companies. In 2005, she joined Mark Gershburg to establish GSI. Ms. Azar is an active member of myriad industry organizations and charities; she currently serves as a Board Member of Jewelers for Children. She is also a Forbes Business Council member.
Her strengths include working directly with retail chains and stores to help build their business and brands. She is widely known in the industry for her commitment to meeting customer needs.
