A gem testing laboratory of Gemological Science International (GSI) was inaugurated on 12 August 2021 in the premises of Rajasthan Chamber Bhawan of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was the state higher education minister Shri. Bhanwar Singh Bhati. The special guest of honor was Shri. Vikas Joshi, Joint Narcotics Commissioner, CBN, Kota, and the special guest was Shri. Rajendra Singh Ghuda, MLA, Udaipur vati. The chief guest talked about how important it is to have a testing system to assess a gemstone’s quality. He believed that the international laboratory would provide hassle-free tested stones to jewelers, exporters, and clients. The export of tested gemstones will strengthen trust among the traders and the clients. He also emphasized promoting education in the gemological sector and showed interest in lending support to GSI in the future.

The narcotics commissioner talked about a need to equip people to identify gemstones and study them from the perspective of research and development. He further appreciated that the courses on gemology to be launched by GSI should hone the skills and provide employment opportunities to the youth of India.

The special guest wished the GSI Jaipur a great success ahead in testing and education and research. The GSI officials warmly received the audience. In her address, the in-charge of GSI Jaipur Laboratory Meenu Brijesh Vyas, the global head gemologist, focused on the gemologist and jeweler relationship and appreciated their close bonding in present times. Bina Vaity, Manager, Global Coordination, International, felt overwhelmed by the support of local authorities in creating a brand for GSI. Launching the GSI laboratory would allow diamond and gemstone knowledge seekers to training themselves into high-ranked gemologists by attaining education of international repute. This further would address the needs of well-qualified gemologists at the global level.
