Medium Green to Dark Green variety of the mineral Beryl is termed as “Emerald”. Light Green Beryl is not emerald; it is classified as Green Beryl. The name emerald comes from the Greek word ‘smaragdos’ as well as the Old French word ‘esmeralde’, which means ‘green gemstone’. The name emerald was first translated from Sanskrit as “marakata” meaning “the green of growing things.”
Surat, May 2015 – GSI, one of the largest independently owned a gemological laboratory in the world hosted its first ‘GSI Diamond Community Lunch’ on 14th May 2015 at The Gateway Hotel, Surat. GSI organized this luncheon for the diamond industry. GSI’s Head of Education, Mrs. Vidhya Mazumdar conducted a short presentation on the difference between inclusions in natural vs synthetic diamonds.
